From 30 December 2026, EU companies must be able to show where the wood in their products came from, for furniture and furniture parts too. Smaller EU buyers of some products get until mid-2027, but most will ask you for the information now. Suppliers who can deliver it quickly and cleanly keep their orders.

What your customer will ask for
Coordinates or polygons of every plantation behind the order.
Land-use, harvest, and transport documents from your suppliers.
No forest cleared on those plots after 31 December 2020.
Which deliveries went into which order, including mixed sources.
Who does what
Submits the due diligence statement in the EU Information System before the goods enter the EU market. Stays legally responsible.
Provide the information your customer needs, complete and consistent. You do not file in the EU system yourself.
Helps you collect, check, and package that information, works with your suppliers in Vietnamese, and sets up a process your team can repeat.
Vietnam is “low risk”
Low risk makes your customer’s checks simpler. They still need the geolocation and legality information for every order. And the risk level follows the country where the wood was grown: imported timber, for example from Laos, Cambodia, or Africa, keeps the risk level of its origin.
Timing
The first Evidence Package usually takes three to four weeks, if your records and supplier contacts are available early. Later orders from the same suppliers are much faster, because the process and templates already exist.
