Vietnam wood & furniture

EUDR support for importers sourcing wood and furniture from Vietnam.

LamNova helps EU importer teams work with Vietnamese manufacturers and suppliers to structure geolocation, legality evidence, chain-of-custody context, and DDS-ready documentation.

Key EUDR dates

Wood and wooden furniture are in scope from 30 December 2026.

The 2026 Annex I update removed products such as leather and retreaded tyres, but wood and wooden furniture remain covered. Products that were already covered by the EU Timber Regulation (EUTR) start on 30 December 2026 for operators of every size, including micro and small companies. Wooden seats (CN 9401) were not covered by the EUTR, so micro and small operators have until 30 June 2027 for them.

Vietnam is classified as low risk in the EUDR country benchmarking (Implementing Regulation (EU) 2025/1093). That covers wood grown in Vietnam: timber imported from other countries keeps the risk level of its country of harvest, even after processing in Vietnam. Low risk can allow simplified due diligence, but operators still have to collect the required information, including plot geolocation and legality evidence.

  1. Main application date

Large and medium operators, and downstream operators and traders of any size. Micro and small operators too, if their products were already covered by the EU Timber Regulation (EUTR).

  2. Micro and small operators

Micro and small operators (established by 31 Dec 2024) for all other products. Micro or small primary operators can use a simplified declaration.

  3. Newly added products

Products added to Annex I in 2026, such as soluble coffee and certain palm oil derivatives.

Why Vietnam needs an operator bridge

The data exists in the supply chain. It is rarely ready for EU compliance teams.

EU importers need plot-level evidence, legality records, supplier declarations, product data, and a repeatable process for turning that information into due-diligence documentation.

Vietnamese suppliers often operate with local document formats, fragmented upstream records, and practical language/culture barriers. LamNova bridges that gap through Vietnamese supplier coordination and EU-facing evidence structure.

Common operational gaps

Incomplete plot data

Supplier records may stop at factory, district, or cooperative level instead of plot-level GPS or polygons.

Unstructured legality evidence

Local documents can exist, but not be organized against EU buyer questions or shipment-level evidence needs.

Supplier handoff friction

EU teams need data in a reviewable format; Vietnamese teams often need clearer requests and follow-up.

DDS file uncertainty

Even when documents exist, teams may not know how they connect to TRACES fields, GeoJSON, and future shipments.

For EU importers

Get supplier evidence into a usable operating process.

Start with a Readiness Check, then build the evidence for one supplier route with an Evidence Package.

For manufacturers in Vietnam

Prepare data your EU buyers can actually use.

The Evidence Package gives your EU customer complete, checked geolocation and legality data, and gives your team a process for every next order.

Why LamNova

Vietnam sourcing needs a bridge, not just another checklist.

LamNova connects EU importer accountability with Vietnamese supplier execution: language, documents, geolocation, procurement context, and the discipline to keep the evidence trail usable.

Vietnam-connected context

Supplier conversations can account for local business norms, terminology, and upstream documentation reality.

EU-facing evidence logic

The output is shaped for importer review, DDS workflows, and audit-facing evidence structure.

Wood and furniture focus

Initial focus stays on categories where Vietnam-EU trade exposure and supplier data complexity are real.

Execution over advice

LamNova helps collect, check, structure, and maintain the evidence - not just describe the regulation.
